Pearland

Pearland is a city in Brazoria County, Texas with, as of the 2010 census, a population just over 91,000. In terms of cities with at least 10,000 residents, Pearland was the 15th fastest-growing city in America between 2000 and 2010. Established with the construction of a post office in 1893, the city of Pearland was originally referred to as “Mark Belt.”

A substantial player in the medical and retail industries, Pearland is home to numerous large employers, including the Pearland Independent School District, Walmart, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, the City of Pearland, HEB Grocery, Davis-Lynch, Home Depot, Target, Bass Pro Shops and Kemlon Products.

For fun, Pearland offers the Pearland Town Center, Shadow Creek Town Center, The Spectrum District, Silverlake Village Shopping Center — featuring Super Target, Michael’s, Marshall’s, PetSmart, Ross, DSW and Office Depot — The Crossing @ 288, Shadow Creek Market Place and Cinemark Movies 12.

When it comes to culture and health care, Pearland boasts the Pearland Medical Center, Reserve at SCR, St. Luke’s Emergency Center, Texas Children’s Pediatrics, the Pearland Parks and Recreation Department and the Pearland Natatorium and Recreational Center. The University of Houston-Clear Lake also offers a satellite campus in Pearland.
